apparently it’s always a good idea to go to Bangli. I’ve been near, but never here. and wow. 🤩
it’s like Sidemen — but quieter. fewer tourists, more locals, lush views in every direction and somehow still feels undiscovered. honestly don’t understand how.
my stay at De Klumpu landed at exactly the right moment — halfway between my last race bib collection and the next one. a place I’d heard many good stories about. exciting, new, and practical all at once. but there are so so sooooo many more reasons to stay.
in one day — one day — I hiked for three hours through village life, jungle, ricefields and traditional farming, had a feast at breakfast, lunch and dinner, learned about herbs, plants and Balinese traditions, made my own jamu from scratch, did a painting class to create my own shrine, and just… soaked up the kind of quiet that actually gets into your bones.
I’ve lived in Indonesia for a while now. I’ve made a real effort to learn and understand. and I still walked away having learned so much.
the hotel? 10/10.
the team? 10/10.
Rocky the guide? 10/10.
the views, the food, the whole thing? you get the idea.
and if you’re planning Mount Agung, exploring Kintamani, or just need a nature reset that actually works… make this your base.
couldn’t recommend it more highly. and it’s not just me, I’ve had a few DMs from people who’ve stayed here and the general message is: how good is that place and their team! so what you’re waiting for? 😉
